Zain Drass to Release ‘Sujji Malikee’ on Republic Day
On January 26, artist Zain Drass will debut the Shina patriotic song “Sujji Malikee” on the YouTube channel Drassonline. The song honors martyrs like S.I. BSF Jumma Khan and Vir Chakra awardee Fatha Khan, celebrating their sacrifices for the nation. “Sujji Malikee” specifically commemorates heroes such as the late S.I. BSF Jumma Khan and Vir Chakra awardee Fatha Khan, among other courageous individuals who laid down their lives in service to the country. Through its poignant lyrics and soul-stirring melody, the song seeks to evoke deep patriotism and gratitude among its listeners.
A Tribute to Drass’s Bravehearts
“Sujji Malikee” pays homage to the valiant heroes of Drass, reflecting the region’s resilience and patriotism. Another hero from the Drass sector was Major Ajay Singh Jasrotia of the 13 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles. On June 15, 1999, when his base camp came under heavy artillery shelling, Major Jasrotia evacuated six injured soldiers to safety, carrying them on his back amidst continuous shelling. Tragically, while rescuing the last soldier, he was fatally wounded. His selfless actions saved the lives of his comrades, and he was posthumously awarded the Sena Medal for his gallantry.
The Drass War Memorial stands as a testament to these heroes and many others who sacrificed their lives during the Kargil War. Located approximately 60 km from Kargil on the Srinagar-Kargil highway, the memorial details the events of the war and honors the bravery of the soldiers.
