  • Track Curvature, Visibility Issues Blamed for Jalgaon Accident

Officials investigating the tragic Jalgaon Pushpak Express accident, which occurred near Pachora on January 22, 2025, have identified track curvature and limited visibility as the primary contributing factors. The incident took place when passengers aboard the stationary Pushpak Express were struck by the approaching Karnataka Express.

Initial reports reveal that the curved alignment of the railway track significantly hindered the driver’s ability to see potential hazards ahead. In addition, reduced visibility in the area further worsened the situation, leaving insufficient time for the driver to react and apply the brakes effectively. These combined factors, along with the high speed of the Karnataka Express, resulted in the tragic collision.

Concerns Raised Over Railway Safety and Investigations Underway

Eyewitnesses and officials at the scene confirmed that the passengers of the Pushpak Express were on the tracks at the time of the accident. The curve of the track, along with dim lighting and limited visibility, made it difficult for the Karnataka Express to halt in time to avoid hitting the passengers.

In response to the incident, railway authorities have launched a detailed investigation to examine the sequence of events and assess whether operational protocols were followed properly. Preliminary findings suggest that improvements in signaling systems, track visibility, and stricter passenger safety measures could have prevented the collision.

The accident has raised serious concerns about safety standards, particularly in areas with sharp curves or poor visibility. Authorities have pledged to take necessary actions to improve infrastructure and ensure better safety measures across the rail network, to avoid such incidents in the future. The collision highlights the urgent need for enhancements in rail safety and stricter operational protocols to protect passengers and railway personnel.
