Washington United States

Kashyap “Kash” Patel, a loyal supporter of former President Donald Trump, has been confirmed as the first Indian-origin Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The Republican-controlled U.S. Senate approved his appointment with a narrow 51-49 vote on Thursday.

In a unique celebration, Dan Scavino, assistant to the President and White House Deputy Chief of Staff, welcomed Patel in a Bollywood-inspired style. Scavino shared a dance clip on X featuring the song “Malhari” from the film Bajirao Mastani, with actor Ranveer Singh’s face humorously replaced by Patel’s. The song’s lyrics roughly translate to: “Let’s play the song of happiness… We have crushed our enemies.”

Kashyap Patel Confirmed as First Indian-Origin FBI Director

The 47-second celebratory clip welcoming Kashyap “Kash” Patel as the new FBI Director has garnered over three million views and more than 10,000 likes. The Republican-led U.S. Senate confirmed Patel with a narrow majority vote of 51-49. Notably, two Republican Senators, Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins, joined all Democrats in opposing Trump’s nominee. Despite this resistance, Patel overcame their objections, with one Democrat warning at a press conference outside the FBI headquarters in Washington, D.C., that Patel “will cause evil in this building behind us.”

Patel’s Commitment to Restoring Trust in the FBI

Following his confirmation, Patel expressed gratitude to former President Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi for their support. He emphasized his dedication to restoring public trust in the FBI and pledged to rebuild the agency into one that is “transparent, accountable, and committed to justice.”

“The FBI has a storied legacy—from the ‘G-Men’ to safeguarding our nation in the wake of 9/11. The American people deserve an FBI that is transparent, accountable, and committed to justice. The politicalization of our justice system has eroded public trust—but that ends today. My mission as Director is clear: let good cops be cops—and rebuild trust in the FBI,” he stated in a post on X.

“Mission First. America Always. Let’s get to work,” the new FBI Director concluded.
