PM Internship Scheme: The government is considering changing the age criteria for the PM Internship Scheme so that more number of youth can participate in it. Two sources related to the matter have given information in this regard.
At present, this scheme is only for people in the age group of 21-24. According to sources related to the matter, this idea is in the initial stage. Under this, the age limit in this scheme can be increased to 18-25 years so that candidates can get more time to apply and the chances of getting an internship can increase. According to sources, there will be no change in other criteria of the scheme.
The main focus of this scheme is on those who have very less chances of getting internship opportunities in the top companies of the country. As per the current norms, this scheme is not for those whose income is more than Rs 8 lakh in FY24 and whose families have any member in a permanent government job.
As per data available on a dedicated portal for the scheme run by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, over 1,25,000 internships have been offered by around 280 top companies till Monday. It showed that internships are available in over 20 sectors, including oil, gas and energy, automotive and travel and hospitality.
The application date for the pilot phase of the scheme closed on November 15. There are over 35,000 offers for graduates, followed by 31,500 for candidates who have passed Class 10 and over 30,000 for candidates with Industrial Training Institute certificates.
