The Maharashtra government has appointed Ujjwal Nikam as the special public prosecutor in the murder case of Santosh Deshmukh, the sarpanch of Massajog in Kaiz tehsil. Local strongmen, allegedly linked to the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), abducted and killed Deshmukh on December 9.
