Bihar Governor Highlights Commitment to Development and Justice

During the Budget session, Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan praised the state government’s dedication to “development with justice” through its Seven Resolves (Part-2) programme. This initiative focuses on inclusive growth, zero tolerance for corruption, job creation, and maintaining a peaceful social order. The Governor noted that the Centre is providing full support to accelerate the state’s developmental journey.

Seven Resolves Programme Aims for Job Creation

Governor Khan emphasized that the Seven Resolves programme, launched in 2015, aims to put Bihar on a development trajectory by addressing basic needs such as electricity, roads, and potable water. The second phase, initiated in 2020, aims to provide 10 lakh jobs and 10 lakh employment opportunities to the youth. He reported that over 9.35 lakh jobs have already been filled, with a commitment to reach 12 lakh jobs by the time elections are announced. Additionally, employment generation has surpassed initial estimates, reaching 24 lakh, with a target of 34 lakh before the elections.

Focus on Financial Assistance and Infrastructure Development

The Governor also introduced the ‘Laghu Udyami Yojana,’ which offers financial assistance of ₹2 lakh to 94 lakh families identified as poor in the recent caste survey. He highlighted significant announcements from the Central government in this year’s budget, including funding for infrastructure projects and the Kosi-Mechi link project for flood protection. Furthermore, the fourth agriculture roadmap, with an approved budget of ₹162,268 crore, aims to enhance the farm sector, building on the successes of previous roadmaps. Khan also noted improvements in health and education sectors and initiatives for women’s empowerment, including quotas in local governance and government jobs.
