Voting for the 2024 Vidhan Sabha General Elections took place peacefully across all three constituencies of Bhandara district on Wednesday, November 20. A total of 50 candidates contested the elections in the 60-Tumsar, 61-Bhandara, and 62-Sakoli constituencies, with voters casting their ballots electronically.
Voter Turnout in Bhandara District
By 5 PM, the overall voter turnout in Bhandara district reached an impressive 65.88%, with the following constituency-wise turnout figures:
Bhandara: 62.78%
Tumsar: 68.27%
Sakoli: 67.21%
This high voter participation reflects the strong democratic engagement in the district.
Voter Enthusiasm and Participation
Voter enthusiasm was visible from early morning, with many voters arriving at polling stations as early as 7 AM. Bhandara district has a total of 10,16,870 voters, including 5,06,974 male voters and 5,09,892 female voters, along with a small number of third-party voters.
Efficient Polling Process and Facilities
A total of 5,276 election officials and staff members were deployed across the three constituencies to ensure a smooth and efficient polling process. In line with modern trends, many polling stations set up selfie points, allowing young voters to take photos and share their participation on social media, promoting civic engagement.
Special Arrangements for All Voters
To ensure accessibility, special polling stations were established for women (Sakhi), disabled (Divyang), and first-time (Nava) voters in all constituencies. Additionally, facilities were made available at every polling station to assist elderly and disabled voters, who also actively participated in the voting process.
