Badlapur Case: A serious incident last month in Badlapur, involving the rape of two young girls, has ignited widespread outrage across the state. The accused, Akshay Shinde, was recently killed in an encounter, intensifying the political climate. The opposition is criticizing the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi government, raising questions about the police’s actions.
Former minister and youth leader Aaditya Thackeray responded to the encounter by tweeting that Akshay Shinde should have faced legal consequences for his inhumane acts.
He described the circumstances surrounding the encounter as negligent and suspicious. Thackeray also voiced concerns that some political parties might exploit the situation for their own benefit.
He questioned why the school operator has not yet been found and who might be trying to protect them. Thackeray called for an impartial investigation to reveal the full details of the incident.
On Monday (the 23rd), a confrontation occurred between the police and Akshay on the Mumbra bypass, during which he allegedly snatched a police firearm and opened fire.
API Nilesh More was injured in the exchange, and the police returned fire in self-defense, resulting in Akshay’s death. This incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Thane Police Commissionerate.
Senior NCP leader Sharad Pawar also expressed his views on the matter through a tweet, questioning the negligence of the Home Department.
He asserted that the government has become so weak in enforcing the law that no one will dare to contemplate such heinous acts in the future. Pawar expressed hope that a thorough investigation will bring clarity to the situation.
