  • Shah’s BJP Manifesto: White Paper on 40,000 J&K Killings

Srinagar, Sep 06: Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted that the BJP has always sought the full integration of Jammu and Kashmir with India. He criticized the pre-2014 period, noting that J&K was marred by separatism and terrorism, often influenced by Hurriyat-backed governments. According to Shah, a new era of peace and prosperity began after 2014 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

Shah highlighted that the historic decision on August 5, 2019, led to the removal of Article 370 and Article 35A from the Constitution. He challenged senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to clarify whether he and his party support the National Conference’s manifesto, which promises the restoration of Article 370, the release of stone pelters, and the freeing of prisoners involved in secessionist activities. Shah also stated that no force could undermine the reservations for Gujjars and Bakerwals.

Shah questioned Rahul Gandhi’s stance on whether he supports a return to terrorism and separatism in J&K and the revival of Article 370 and the two flags. He claimed that Rahul’s silence indicates support for the NC manifesto. Regarding the restoration of statehood to J&K, Shah reiterated his commitment that it will be granted at an appropriate time after the Assembly elections, dismissing the need for further demands on this issue.

On the topic of talks with Pakistan, Shah maintained that dialogue cannot proceed while terrorism persists, stating that discussions will be held with Kashmiri youth instead. He also ruled out trade with Pakistan, citing that trade could facilitate terrorism.

Shah concluded by stating that while the BJP remains open to various alliances, a government including the National Conference, PDP, or Congress will not be considered for J&K.
