The Sangli Municipal Corporation has announced that both penal and criminal actions will be taken against unauthorized billboards within its jurisdiction. If an unlicensed billboard is discovered, a fine will be imposed, and failure to pay the fine will result in the burden being placed on the property, as stated by the corporation on Tuesday. Numerous hoardings and advertisements have been identified as unauthorized and unlicensed. The High Court has issued directives to take action against these illegal hoardings.
Sangli : Criminal Action and Fines for Unauthorized Billboards
In the cities of Sangli, Miraj, and Kupwad, various forms of advertising—including banners, posters, hoardings, digital flexes, and arches—are commonly displayed to celebrate birthdays, political events, and festivals. However, many of these advertisements are found to be unauthorized. Following a directive from the High Court, the municipal authorities are mandated to take action against such illegal hoardings. This includes their removal, punitive measures against those responsible, and the filing of legal cases.
Sangli Municipal Corporation Reduces Hoarding Fees and Enforces New Regulations
The fee structure for hoardings, banners, and posters in Sangli has been revised by the Municipal Corporation. Previously, the charge was Rs 50 per square foot for a duration of seven days, while unlicensed hoardings incurred a fee of Rs 150 per square foot. The new rates have been significantly reduced to Rs 25 per square foot for licensed hoardings and Rs 50 for unlicensed penal hoardings.
Additionally, it is now mandatory for all hoardings and advertisements to display the name of the responsible individual, contact number, hoarding number, and the approval number issued by the Municipal Corporation. Failure to include this information will result in the hoardings and advertisements being deemed illegal, leading to appropriate action, as stated by the Public Relations Department.
