Alleged Attack on Nitesh Karale, NCP Leader, During Maharashtra Assembly Elections Campaign
As voting for Maharashtra’s Legislative Assembly elections takes place on November 20, tensions are rising between the ruling party and the opposition. Several allegations of violence have been reported across different constituencies. One such incident occurred in Wardha district, where Nitesh Karale, a key office bearer of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), claims he was attacked by a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker.
A video showing an individual allegedly assaulting Karale has gone viral, drawing significant attention. In an interview with TV9 Marathi, Karale detailed the events leading up to the confrontation.
What Happened to Nitesh Karale?
Karale explained that he was returning from his village after voting when the incident occurred. Accompanied by his family, he stopped near the Wardha constituency. While approaching the road leading to Umri village, Karale interacted with locals when police officers advised him to station two individuals at the voting booth. At that point, he observed eight people sitting at the booth, including Gram Panchayat employees, one of whom was using a laptop.
Karale said he contacted the police to report the issue. However, as he approached the Gram Panchayat employee to inquire about the situation, a BJP worker from Umri allegedly ran up to him and attacked him. “The BJP worker charged at me, began beating me, and verbally abused my wife. My young daughter was also caught up in the altercation,” Karale said.
Political Tensions Escalate
This attack has further intensified the already heated political atmosphere in Maharashtra. Both the ruling party and the opposition are accusing each other of misconduct. Authorities are currently investigating the incident.
The results of the Maharashtra Assembly elections will be announced on November 23, and the incident is expected to add to the growing political tensions across the state.
